Double insulation glass
In some countries the standard to improve thermal insulation in buildings since long is double insulation glass windows. The window is composed of two sheets of glass connected airtight to each other with a spacer (usually made of aluminum - yet more and more also in a more insulating "Warm edge" variant) at a certain optimized distance from each other. The insulating space between the glass plates is ideally filled with an insulating gas, such as Argon or Krypton, but at least with air.
The insulation for double insulation glass is expressed as a Ug-value, where a lower figure is better. The unit (W/m2K) indicates how much heat passes per square meter and per degree temperature difference between the two sides of the glass. In addition, the solar factor (SF) and the light transmission (LT) are factors that dictate the choice for a type of double insulation glass.
BGT sells its double insulation glass with optionally a variety of additional functionalities, such as safety, sound control, fire proof, solar and heat control, and burglary proof. In addition, there is the stronger insulating variant with triple insulation glass
